Walking and  biking
Fishing and Watersports

There are many beautiful walking and mountain biking tracks to be discovered around the area. For the family, Lake Tuakitoto has a 15km loop track is where there is a selection of wildlife, such as the pukeko, New Zealand shoveler, the South Island fernbird, black swans, shelduck and march cranes. For the more experenced riders, check out the Black Gold Trail.

In close proximity to the camp is the beautiful Clutha River and River Mouth which provides activities for the whole family whether you are a keen fisherman, boatie or just out for a swim. Fishing is plentiful in the river, you will find seasonal salmon, whitebait and trout. If fishing isn't your thing, the boat ramp is nearby so bring the boat, biscuit and jet skis on your next trip.

History

Kaitangata has a rich mining history and is also closely linked to the Central Otago Gold Rush. You may be lucky enough to spot some of our wild horses in the hills, decendents from Kaitangata's mining days. Make sure to visit the local mueseum to learn more about the incredible history of the town.

Family fun

Kaitangata township has a modern skate park and BMX track, perfect for the kids to spend an afternoon on. There are also scenic golf courses, lawn bowls and a fantastic resturant (Crescent bar n Grill) all in close proximity to the Motor Park. On your way out of Kai, you can fuel up at McKeown Fuel next door before heading on to the beautiful Catlins Area just down the road.
